Dean Family Reunion

With Brian in Montana for his annual Manager's meeting, the kids and I thought we would go a couple of days early to Mimi and Papa's. We had a good visit, and I even took a couple of hours to visit with my dear friend Kelli, which I never do. I enjoyed seeing friends that I hadn't seen since I graduated. It was great fun.

After a couple of days, it was on to Louisiana. The kids and I stopped in Natchitoches at my cousin Angie's for a swim and a few laughs. The kids really enjoyed playing. Trey and Cole got along beautifully and have lots in common, while Kerri and Kara talked Girl Talk and colored much like Angie and I did as kids. Kadi took up with Kale and played Dinosaurs. You rarely knew they were around. Karsyn, well, I learned I can't ever take my eyes off him if Angie leaves him entrusted to me! :) He is a DOLL!!!

My grandmother, Nana and Aunt Denise came to visit and we all went to dinner. It was great fun! The kids love their NANA! Kadi even sold some candles for her Arthogryposis MC Support that she is raising money for. Kadi said, "They sure must love candles to buy all these." I assured her it wasn't the candles they love, but her. She smiled that heart melting smile of hers. Thanks Nana and Aunt Denise!

As we wake up for the family reunion, our week of relaxing and laughs comes to a halt. I should have known it was too good to be true. 7 kids in one house? It took us a while to get them all ready, but we were ready by 10am. Then....picture time!!! Aren't they cute???

We had to make a stop to let Kara and Trey out with their grandmother for the weekend, and to get drinks and ice, but we should have been to the reunion by 11 at the latest. It is only 30 miles up the road. HA! After the road closing, detours, and getting lost in Many, we are once again on our way -- we think??? There is no sign to tell us if we are on the right road. HOWEVER, a nice policeman decided to pull me over. ARGH! I don't need a ticket! That cute heart melting smile again states a matter of factly to the officer -- we're lost! Nice Kadi, please be quiet. Officer, I wasn't speeding. I was only going between 60-65 on a highway. O= Ma'am speedlimit is 55. Me= In Texas the limit is 70. You have no signs posted due to construction???? I didn't know. O= where are you headed. Me= I am trying to get to a family reunion etc, etc.

Anyway, thanks Kadi! He couldn't resist her smile, and he gave us directions. We are on our way! Drive, drive, drive. Finally, we see the hotel. We circle around. Shouldn't a family reunion have cars? Hmmm..... I ask. They direct me across the highway. LOOOOONNNNGGGG drive -- multiple miles. Lady in box stops me. I say I am here for the reunion. L= which reunion? Me= Dean. L= noone by the name. Me= Bundrick? L= No. (I try to call mymom -- no answer) Me=weaver? Margaret? They have to be here. L=No. Did you try across the way? You are the 4th car to come here looking for them. Me= SMILE thank you! Turn around. Drive. Drive. Phone rings. Angie=hey...when you get there, dad says they are hard to find. Me=really? smile! Angie=yes, at the hotel. Okay thanks. Go back to hotel. Nope, but I do find Dad's truck. no people. Call mom Once more.....aha...answers.....take the little dirt road behind the hotel! AH....PEOPLE!! yea! we made it! What great fun. We saw relatives I haven't seen since I was knee high. It was great to see Brian and Jennifer from Uncle Mac and Aunt Katie's family. It was great to see Barney and Joey and Kelley and their families. Aunt Linda and Uncle Danny. I sure missed Sarah, Josh and Jeremy. Maybe next time. It was Lots of fun. Kadi sold more candles for her trip -- thanks Aunt Lisa and Papa! Of course, it isn't a family reunion without a photo op. Here are some of my favs.
